Leaving Flagstaff we descended into the northern Arizona desert.

We drove across a Navajo Reservation on Hwy 89 which was dotted with stands selling Navajo jewelry.

We took 89A which crossed the Vermilion Cliffs Monument.

We got in the middle of a sports car rally - some very unhappy drivers. It took them about 10 minutes to pass us. There was no place for us to pull over.











We drove through the Dixie National Forest. There had been a fire recently.

Mountain desert

We took Hwy 50 on leaving Delta, it crossed desert divided by mountain ranges.


This part of Hwy 50 is know as the Loneliest Road in America.
